Super sexualization of Harley Quinn and her real message

Read this post before seeing Margot Robbie in Suicide Squad!

This has been an issue that has bothered me for some time. Recently, it came back to the fore with the release of the trailer for the film "Suicide Squad", known in Brazil as "Esquadrão Suicida". In the trailer, there is a three-second scene showing only Harley Quinn ass. This scene exacerbates a much bigger problem than the occasional sexism: it shows that the world really forgotten the true Harley Quinn character message.

Today, when someone describes Harley Quinn, nine times out of ten go straight to the fact that they find it "hot." They talk about their romantic relationship with the Joker. They talk about her annoying voice and how sexy. They also claim that it is stupid and very funny. Also, I heard some girls wanting to be like her - they believe it is a strong female character.

But this wasn't always the case. If it were to return to their origin in the lively fantastic series of "Batman" in the 90s, they know what is Harley Quinn, and how important it was and engajador her character. Harley is a rare exception to the rule where the comics and fans managed to ruin the character because she is far from being a strong female character and she's not a person in that any girl should be based. On the contrary, actually.

The character and history of Harley Quinn are metaphors in relation to domestic violence and the tragedy of being caught in one. For those who don't know her story, she was a psychiatrist who has been designated to handle the Joker. He made his "joke" and manipulated, shifted his head to love him and to make pet. One of the great mistakes is to think that Joker and Harley are a couple. The Joker isn't able to be in a relationship. His head does not function as a normal human being. It uses Harley Quinn for their own personal gain and virtually no worries about it. It would only be upset if she died if it directly affected their plans. In other words, Harley Quinn is just a puppet for him.

Harley, on the other hand, is desperately in love with Joker and truly believes that he also loves. This is the great tragedy. Joker is so cruel to her as he is with everybody. He is verbally and physically abusive, but she never left him because she believes that he loves her as much as she loves - a common trait in many situations of domestic violence. Harley Quinn was never designed to be a character that deserves imitation. It is designed to teach girls about the dangers of domestic violence and be an example of what should not be. It is a tragic character.

(''No, it's not, your feelings don't count for anything, pathetic. We both know what you want.'')

However, this was somehow lost along the way. It seems that the goal of Harley Quinn is to please comic book geeks teenagers with hormones thousand, making their tiny clothes and famous shirts. It is a choice of consistent cosplay most comic conventions. Honestly, it pisses me off every time I hear someone say they want to be like Harley because she's tough. It disturbs me even more when they say they want a relationship just like Joker and Harley. This shows that they don't know what they are talking about and they completely missed the point of it. Domestic violence is a stupid thing that exists, but the harsh reality is that it exists. Harley Quinn was made with the best of intentions and those intentions have been wasted by the culture in which we now live.

So when you go to see "Suicide Squad" and is amazed by the beautiful Margot Robbie playing Harley Quinn or when you talk about how powerful and strong she is when you played with her in "Batman: Arkham Knight" or when reading a comics where she gives a gift to the Joker, just remember how tragic your character is and what it should represent. So let the cool breeze of reality relax your soul. And the better the pun, The Joker is definitely on you!

Brazil vs Lithuania in the final of the International Challenge

Brazil and Lithuania decided on Sunday from 14:30 pm, with live broadcast, the SporTV2, the International Basketball Challenge, which is being held here in the friendly city of Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo. The competition serves as preparation for the Rio, 2016.

Earlier, more precisely at 12:00 pm, they will be deciding third in the quadrangular selections from China and Australia. This game will also be broadcast live, by SporTV2.

In games played this Saturday at the gym Hugo Ramos, here in Mogi das Cruzes, Lithuania defeated Australia by 81-68 and Brazil just took no notice of China and won by 39 points difference (91-52). It is worth remembering that the four teams will be in the Olympic Games of the wonderful city of Rio de Janeiro.

Lithuania and Brazil are part of the same group in the Olympic tournament in Rio de Janeiro and will face off on August 07 at 14:15 hours in the Arena Carioca 1 in Barra da Tijuca Olympic Park.

In the game this Sunday teams will surely seek to conceal strategies that could be decisive in the game of 07 August. According to the guard Marcelinho Huertas, Brazil captain, "The match will be a good test and we have to take advantage. It is important to show our best to have the surprise in Rio."

In the easy win over China, once again, the fans cheered with beautiful moves of the Brazilian team. Usually against weaker opponents there is a tendency to wane consequently lose a day in preparation. What we saw was just the opposite. A specific team, vibrant, aware that defense is critical to the success of the group in Rio, 2016. The attitude shown by the Brazilian team in these two matches here in Mogi das Cruzes, makes me very satisfied and confident that the Olympic podium becomes increasingly possible for male Brazilian basketball.

Let's jus enjoy the best moments of the match between Brazil and China for the inaugural round of the International Basketball Challenge.

A book that is worth a thousand pictures

Long ago that the hegemony of the images in our day to day has me tired. Not only by the excess of information that they bring, but also by their quality. So many videos, photos (and arts) I see dropped the world, almost nothing deserves more than two seconds of attention, almost nothing deserves a longer reflection. A feather. When well thought out, well executed, well used, the images have much power.

Okay, they say a picture is worth a thousand words. This may have been true some day, but today you can not be so innocent about. The ease with which changes an image invites us to always be suspicious of what is presented to us - just as we already do, or should do, with the words. In the end, what we lack is to reflect more about the images (and, indeed, on any little thing we are producing and mainly consuming). We lost this habit, which is an unforgivable misstep.
All this long Lenga is the purpose of a book tailored for those who want to open the head for the photo. "The right moment," the Dorrit Harazim, brings 39 delicious texts on the best of twentieth century photography - especially in photojournalism area, which is a great school. Not interpretive delusions so common in the market of "critical." Are real stories about the photos on the photographers on the craft, about life. It is no exaggeration neither mine nor poetry. Each text is a journalism class and of course photography. To paraphrase one another, I say that after this book, you'll never see a picture in the same way.
In this melting pot of information, aesthetic analysis, as often boring to ordinary mortals, comes as a seasoning and does not harm the reader's intelligence. On the contrary. The nearly 400 pages of the book enrich veterans and beginners, professionals and amateurs.

It was, as it turns out, a very pleasant reading. Just missed a onosmático index - eternal lapse of the Brazilian editorial market. And also I assume that I am biased by the author. For guys like me, journalist and lover of photography, Dorrit Harazim was always obligatory reference. She ran the world in amazing stories - just cite its coverage of the wars in Vietnam and Cambodia, in the 70s, among many others. Not being exactly photojournalist, but first-rate journalist, she has the exact notion of what makes a photo "works" and does not waste words or images.
So let's follow the example and waste no more time here. Reading "The right moment" made me rethink the photos I've been producing in the last decade. More than that, it made me take the camera out of the drawer and go to the street trying smarter approaches, less careless, better targeted, less obvious. As can be seen in instagrans of life, it is not easy.

Everything we know about the season 2 of Stranger Things

The second season of Stranger Things has been confirmed?

Yes and no. Officially, Netflix has not yet announced the renewal of the series for a second season, however, the actor Matthew Modine said in an interview that the series will have a second season. The history of copyright series from Netflix, we know that it is very unlikely that a series produced by the company is not renewed at least until a second season. The renewal is even more likely when the series is a success - both public, as critical - as is the case of Stranger Things.

But it should not be long before the renewal is officially confirmed.

When will debut the season 2?

The first season was released on July 15th, 2016. Therefore, considering that the series is renewed, the second season is expected to reach only half of 2017. The one year cycle is the standard in the TV series, and those produced by Netflix follow this pattern.

The season 2 will be continuation of the first season?

The actor who plays Dr. Brenner in Stranger Things, Matthew Modine - the same that confirmed the renewal of the series for the second season - confirmed in an interview that the production was designed in a serial format and not miniseries.

Ross Duffer, one of the twin brothers responsible for creation of the series, commented:

''About the Upside Down, we have a 30-page document that explains what he means, where the monster came and because there are no more monsters - we have all these things that we didn't have time to enter in the first season, or we do not think we should enter on the first season because of all this tension with Will.''

It can be argued, therefore, that the next season will be a continuation of the first season history, not an original story by season - as is the case of some series such as American Horror Story. Ross Duffer full:

''If people respond well to this series and we have the opportunity to continue it, we have had some initial discussions of what direction to take. If we have a second season, we reveal more details of this 30-page document, but still want to keep the story from the perspective of our original characters.''

Mike Buffer also explained details about the future of the series:

''We wanted to do some things that [first] season. We didn't want to do the same thing as The Killing. We wanted to solve the main problem of Will have disappeared in the first season. In this sense, it's like an eight-hour film. But we don't answer all the questions at the end of the season - certainly there are unresolved issues. The hope is that [the end] is satisfactory but there is some space, and people respond well, we return to this world. But if we go back, it will be as a result of a new season.''

After all, what can be explored in the second season?

Although the first season was closed "plump" the frame parts have been left open, probably targeting a potential return of the series. Which can then be the themes for the second season? If you haven't seen all season, please avoid the section below. Contains Spoilers.

1. The life of Eleven after her disappearance.

The first season ends with the disappearance of Eleven, a kind of sacrifice to destroy the monster. But she really died? There is what appears when the Hopper delegate leaves some waffles and some Christmas food for her in a box in the forest. If she's still alive, no doubt will be explored in the second season.

2. Continuation of Will's history.

What will happen to Will after his return from Upside Down? As we have seen in the last scene of the series, he is not well even after one month of their rescue. What are the consequences? After all, throwing up monsters doesn't seem the most normal thing in the world.

3. The monster of Upside Down.

Okay, we know that Eleven destroyed the monster at the end of the series. But we don't know much about those monsters. It was just one? There are several? Where they came from? As they are transported between the dimensions? This is undoubtedly the key point of next season.

Amanda won the UFC belt and dedicated to her girlfriend

Brazilian Amanda Nunes is the first champion of the UFC reportedly LGBT. And that is empowering.
The Bahian Amanda Nunes made history in contention for the title of UFC bantamweight. She became the first Brazilian to win a title in the most important MMA championship of the planet and the first athlete (including men) openly LGBT to win a belt. With only 3m15s struggle she applied a sequence of strokes and an overwhelming rear naked choke and took the title of American Miesha Tate. Shortly after winning the title, "Leone", nickname he earned in the sport, dedicated the title to his girlfriend, the fighter's STRAWWEIGHT Nina Ansaroff "She's everything to me. Help me every day... I'm going to cry. I love her. This is too much. The most important is that I am happy with my life. " In an interview before the beloved victory, Nina said that the love of the two is greater than the gender issue, is simply love. "We are proud of our relationship because we have a very strong bond, not because we are gay. As your partner, feel that reflect each other." she defined. But what does it matter? The reader who fell parachute this BLOG might ask: "Yeah, but you have to see the UFC title with the sexual orientation of fighting?". Maybe she did not fail to gain the title or for being lesbian or being heterosexual.
By social pressure, men and women are motivated to follow the parents careers that would be victorious. Parents one day too passsaram the same frustration. Maybe I'm not at this point with this text being read by someone who dreamed of being a dancer or a reader who dreamed of playing football and gave up because he heard that "This is not for you." "It's a guy thing." "It's something of a fag." By social pressure, athletes live a life in the closet. How many athletes do you know who are openly gay, lesbian or transgender? And you really believe that worldwide only these are the LGBT people in sport? Declare or not their sexuality is not required, it is a right of each that should be respected. Should. The fact is that athletes around the world are pressured by family, business, companies not to talk about it. The Australian Olympic medalist Ian Thorpe said in his biography that plunged into a deep depression can no longer hide his homosexuality. Empowered, Amanda won the UFC belt and dedicated to her girlfriend.

Marta detonates in a friendly and surpasses the mark of none other than Pelé with the national team shirt

Marta shone again with the national team shirt late on Wednesday (9). The striker scored no less than five of the 11 goals the team in the massacre of Trinidad and Tobago at the Arena das Dunas in Natal, in the friendly International Football Tournament.

With great performance, she overcame none other than Pelé. Marta reached 98 goals with the shirt of the national team, against 95 of the King of Football.

"I'm happy for the goals, for the record," said the striker, to TV Bandeirantes.

"We know the opponent's weakness, but the way we won, we show respect for our opponents and the first game is important, goal difference as well. So we try to make the greatest number of points."

With the hard-hitting score 11-0, Brazil opened a wide margin in a friendly quadrangular. The goal difference can be decisive to define the champion of the tournament, which still has Mexico and Canada.

On the same Wednesday, the Mexicans beat the Canadians by 3 to 0. The winners will face Brazil on Sunday at 17 pm, again at the Arena das Dunas.

Wednesday, the Brazilian team took the field with Barbara; Poliana, Monica, Rafaelle and Tamires; Thaisa, Andressinha and Marta; Beatriz Zaneratto, Gabi Zanotti and Debinha.

Technical Vadão took the game to new tests on staff and over friendly, gave chances Leticia Izidoro, Rilany, Juliet, Maurine, Rachel and Thais. For this tournament, the coach can not count on Erika and Cristiane, who have not been released by Paris Saint-Germain.

Even without the duo, the selection had no difficulty to overcome the fragile team of Trinidad and Tobago. Besides Marta, shone Beatriz Zaneratto responsible for three goals. Also shook the networks Debinha, Rachel and Rilany.

"We played seeking goal ever, because this is our style on the pitch. But we also know that to score balance is very important and can decide first place in the quadrangular and the advantage in the final," said Beatriz.

Woman in power!
