The court sent the fixed and mobile operators block the WhatsApp instant messaging service throughout the country for 72 hours. The measure will begin to count from 14pm on Monday (02). The decision of April 26th, is the judge Marcel Montalban, the county Lagarto, Sergipe.
eThe process that led to the determination of Montalban is the same as justified, in March, the arrest of Diego Dzodan, vice president of Facebook, the company that owns the app, for Latin America. The judge wants the company to transfer information on an interstate gang of drugs for an investigation of Federal Police, which the company refuses to do.
The five operators (Tim, Hi, Vivo, Claro and Nextel) have received the determination and said they will comply. In case of non-compliance will be subject to a daily fine of R$ 500,00. Sought Montalvão will not talk about it. WhatsApp and Facebook has not commented on the issue.
Consulted, operators say they will comply with the decision and they are still studying whether to enter court proceedings to try to overthrow the lock. The Sinditelebrasil, which represents the industry, is monitoring this process with the telcos and not yet defined how the industry will position.
Although the telcos and the application crashes a trade dispute, the lock is an inconvenience for operators. WhatsApp works with computers registry change and this makes the lock work quite complicated for telcos, which can be punished if they fail to implement fully the lock.
